This release features improvised words and music by Steve Dalachinsky and Federico Ughi. It was recorded live at the Knitting factory, NYC, in November 2001, and is the artists' response to the NYC atmosphere at that time. Dalachinsky is one of the most important contemporary New York poets, and has been working with high profile musicians such as William Parker, Matthew Shipp, Sabir Mateen, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Vernon Reid (Living Colour) and others. In 1999 he released the CD "Incomplete Direction" on the Knitting Factory label.
Federico Ughi plays drums, and uses voice and live sampling to create a sound landscape that focuses on the textures of sound and harmonies, and beyond this, to interact spontaneously with Dalachinsky. He has been working in diverse projects in New York with respected musicians such as Daniel Carter. His previous releases include "The Space Within" (Slam 236, SLAM Records), Astonishment (577-1), and ULERS Two (577-2).
