Now MuSE sounds definitively like something to try. They write about 
themselves: "MuSE is an application for the mixing, encoding, and 
network streaming of sound. MuSE can simultaniously mix up to 6 encoded 
audio bitstreams (from files or network) plus a souncard input signal. 
The resulting stream can be played locally on the sound card and/or 
encoded as an mp3 bitstream sended to a broadcast server. MuSE offers 
an intuitive interface to be operated realtime and can run in "batch" 
mode or receiving remote commands thru network."

Cmq...
credo sia ora di sviluppare qualcosa, anche perchè l'unica roba che 
manca è appunto uno scheduler...
Credo che provare a farne una bozza e implementarlo come plugin di xmms 
non dovrebbe essere troppo difficile, io mi offro come coder (pessimo) 
e beta-tester (già meglio).
Chi si aggrega?

P.S. A parte che xmms è una merda, ma come sistema è già buono se 
paragonato al resto...
Supporta tutti i formati della terra, ha un sacco di cose carine 
implementate esterne (crossfade plugin, effetti, ecc. ecc.) ed è facile 
da programmare.
