Io prenderei in considerazione anche l'eterno secondo, ossia MS-SQL:
secondo commerciale, secondo "piccolo". Ora diventerà il primo per numero
di installazioni visto che MS office lo installa surretiziamente. Ecco come
gonfiare le cifre delle statistiche...

MySQL/MaxDB l'ho sempre trovato eccellente per piccole applicazioni e nei
casi in cui serva una gestione veloce. Oracle invece è una corazzata: è ben
strutturato, non lo ammazzi neanche a volergli far del male, lo backuppi
senza patire, eccetera; ovviamente tutto questo si paga in termini di
complessità di gestione. Comunque sono sicuro che la tua indagine ti
rivelerà i casi in cui sia meglio quale dei quattro.
