Two people suspended themselves from the balcony of the italian vice-consulate at Iruñea this past April 16 to denounce the repression of the Italian anarchist movement. In particular they denounced the death of Edoardo Massari and demanded freedom for Silvano Pellissero and Rosa Maria Soledad. These three people were arrested on March 5 accused of sabotage at the high speed train construction site, as part of a large police operation that also entailed the eviction of several squatted houses. On the 28th Edoardo was found hanging in the cell were he was confined. Silvano and Soledad are on hunger strike since they learnt of the death of their comrade. Actually there is no evidence to incriminate them.
The action of April 16 started at around 11:30 am, when two people climbed the balcony at the vice-consulate and then hanged themselves by the neck with a rope. While the action was taking place, a group gathered at the door carrying a placard and distributing leaflets. After the police arrived, the Italian consul received a group of demonstrators. After listening to their reasons for the protest, the consul concluded: either they get down by themselves or they will be taken down. And so, at around 12:30 the police took the two protesters down and arrested them inmediately, releasing them after a few hours charged with public disturbances. CNT of Iruñea supported and took part in this action.
