La questione e' questa: le schede wireless possono funzionare in varie 
modalita', a seconda dell'uso che ne fai, ad hoc, managed etc... per 
divertirsi con kismet, airsnort et similia e' necessario settare la scheda 
in modalita' monitoring, che puo' essere facilemente assimilata alla 
modalita' promiscua delle ordinarie schede ethernet.
Kismet e airsnort sanno riconoscere alcuni driver e mettere in automatico 
le schede in questa modalita' (le orinoco e le prism con driver wlan-gn se 
non ricordo male per airsnort, kismet ne' supporta di piu'), mentre altri 
chipset o altri drivers richiedono tools esterni per mettere le schede 
in monitoring mode manualmente prima di far partire K o AS, ad es 
con i driver hostAP cambi la modalita' a mano con iwconfig.
Da quel che leggo mettere la scheda in monitor mode con il tuo chipset e' 
un po' un troiaio, al di la' del fatto che la gente si lamenta che i 
driver fanno cmq cagare anche per l'uso ordinario. Comprati una netgear, 
una senao o un'altra scheda basata su prism2, quello che spendi lo 
risparmi in tempo, sudore e ulcere.
