charges twice. Why does this not apply in a case like this?
STUART TAYLOR: The double jeopardy clause which in the Fifth Amendment only
applies in criminal cases, you cannot be prosecuted twice for the same
thing, except maybe in federal court after you've been prosecuted in a state
court, as happened with the police accused in the Rodney King case, but it's
no problem, and it's quite clear that the double jeopardy clause does not
bar a civil suit for the same conduct of which you've been criminally
acquitted.

Cmq, sempre meglio della caduta in proscrizione dei reati di Berlusconi &
affini!
In ogni modo, negli USA chiunque può fare causa contro chiunque, anche se
l'accusato è potente o ricco (heh, ricco e potente sono sinonimi).
Infatti, anche chi non si può permettere di pagare per il processo lo può
fare! Le società di avvocati pagano tutto, e si prendono una percentuale
solo in caso di successo.
